On December 24th, Pope Francis opened the Holy Door at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, which begins our Jubilee Year of Hope. We become pilgrims of Hope, and by passing through the Holy Door, it expresses the decision to follow and be guided by Jesus, who is the Good Shepherd. The Door is a passageway that ushers the pilgrim into the interior of a church.
The Jubilee, which in itself is expressed as an event of people on pilgrimage to the Holy Door, also use song as one of the ways of expressing it's motto, “Pilgrims of Hope”. This song that arises during the journey is directed to God. It is a song charged with the hope of being freed and supported.
During this Jubilee, we at the South Kent Catholic Family of Parishes will be singing this song during our different Jubilee celebrations throughout the year. So please open your hearts and minds to the words of this beautiful song.
Peavey Mart will be having a BBQ fundraiser in support of St. Paul’s Church at their Chatham location at 787 St Clair St. on Saturday July 6th from 10am to 4pm. Peavey Mart has BBQs supporting local charities every Saturday during the summer months, and we are grateful that they agreed to do this for us! If you are in Chatham that day, please stop by and see us.
Starting this weekend (May 18-19) our Erieau and Rondeau mission stations will be open on Saturday evenings, with St. Anne’s mass at 4pm and St. Gabriel’s mass at 5pm. As a result, the Saturday 5pm mass at St. Mary’s will not take place and will resume after Labour Day weekend. The Saturday 5pm mass at St. Michael’s will resume after Thanksgiving weekend.
